ARUA YOUTH TAKES MARKETING TO THE INTERNET

Inspirations from culture, nature and the pearl of Africa have made self employment a source of livelihood for many youth who are engaged in Art and craft, textile designs from the famous African Print known as “Kitengye” a mong other businesses like carpentry, tailoring, saloon, restaurants, car & motorcycle garages and many more. The three years of YES project have helped to empower youth with knowledge on entrepreneurship, internship and apprenticeship programs so as to create employment opportunities and more so reduce poverty that is caused by unemployment.
Aziku Sharon is the founder and manager of AZISHA’s Art and Crafts spot (ACCS) in Arua Municipality. She was excited for such an opportunity as it was her first time to take part in an exhibition. Credit goes to  YES project and partners SNV, CEGED, AFARD and other CBO's that are empowering the youth in west Nile.

She has a Facebook page and a WatsApp number for customers who may want deliveries or to place orders. She is marketing her business on the internet. " Technology has advanced. People are now shopping on line so I don't want to miss out." Sharon Aziku explains.
Her Jewerelly is stunning and can successfully compete on the international market. She makes African crafts, art portraits, shopping baskets from papyrus among others.

"My dream is to open up the first Art gallery in Arua Town." Sharon said with a smile.
Out of her business, she has been able to pay school fees for her siblings and she is able to sustain herself as a young lady who has many ambitions and needs.

  1. I know #Sharon Aziku personally and a friend ofcz. She is enthusiastic and a phenomenon lady. Its there a great honor to have such a talented focussed lady in westnile as she aspires to inspire many more young ones growing. Kudos to Sharon, God bless you.
